wemew album (recording complete!)

Just got back from recording and I'm so excited and happy it'll take a couple of days to come down.

--One weekend (recording commences Saturday around 12:30 PM, and wraps up Sunday around 7PM)
--*NINE* tracks recorded (all but one of them recorded live straight through in only a few takes)
--3 tracks with awesome overdubs including bowed double bass and clarinet
-- ~43 minutes of running time
-- 1 new bridge section written in 20 minutes while the rest of the house was out to buy chips at the gas station
--42 beers consumed
--1 album that represents the best of what I expected when I started writing these songs over 5 years ago, and in many ways is even better than I expected

So when do *you* get to hear it? Well, if you can find me personally I'll play my rough mixes for you, but I've promised Sid, my slave-driving producer that I won't release the songs to the masses until they've been fully mixed down and mastered and that good stuff. So probably another month before they'll really be ready and I can press and start releasing / selling the album. But I'm terribly happy and I wanted to share it and tell all of those who have been waiting far too patiently for me to finish this effing thing that the recording phase is done, the tracklist is set, and I should have something to give you finally by June.

Finally, a huge debt of gratitude to Sid and John for helping me make this a reality. Its really impossible for me to adequately express how happy I am with the recording and the end result will likely surpass even that, and I owe that to both of you being such great friends and brilliant collaborators. It's almost criminal how easy life can be with friends like these.

Do you think you can bring these rough mixes with you to the troupe reunion? Otherwise we may have to hold your sesame chicken hostage.

Awesome! Happy for you! Can't wait to hear it!!!

I'll be bringing the disc with me everywhere, and the Troupe reunion is a subset of everywhere, so yes.

What the hell are you doing...?
finishing things...
making people look bad...

Also, by calling the Troupe Reunion a subset of everywhere are you abusing the term "Troupe Reunion" to imply that is not only is an event but a location as well, or are you abusing the term "everywhere" to be the span of all places and events that occur at a place. I've just finished Linear Systems (aka Linear ALgebra for Fun and Profit) and such things occur to me causing me to want to brutally choke myself.

Sorry about that... "At the Troupe Reunion in Houghton, MI" is a subset of everywhere.

I wasn't explicit enough (which is typically the opposite of the complaint I get, though I think they might not be referring to set theory when they say it)

Most fierce-- can't wait to hear it!!!

Yeah, generally people don't refer to set theory. Which just goes to show that people are generally well-balanced and exhibit good sense... despite my (and others') frequent statements to the contrary.
