Yes, I am once again a computer owner, which makes me happy. I did end up going for the Sony SZ110, which has been great so far. I decided that I was really being a little too ridiculous with my Sonyphobia. Hopefully I was.

Anyway, while this will be a short entry, I just wanted to let everyone know that I will start being less of a stranger around here, and you should be seeing lots of new stuff coming, including:

1) A new actual website with pictures made in a program more complicated than MSPaint. And HTML designed in something somewhat more advanced than Notepad.

2) Actual content on the actual website, including writing and music. I've got 5 demo type tracks and will be recording many more before summer, which will be available on the site in their entirety. I'll also have past and current writings.

3) My first forays into Flash. I've got plans to start making a series of movies with Sid, and I'll probably also be doing some of my own stuff.

4) More involved blog work, especially relating to travel journals as I begin my sailing odyssey.

All this will begin immediately and hopefully you'll start seeing the changes in a month or so.

Anyway, this has been a site related plug, we will now resume regular blogging.

NOTE: I almost forgot to offer huge thanks to Chet for his listening and offering advice in my obsessive whining in my notebook decision. Its great to have computer geniuses to rely on, and without Chet's help I might have made a $2000 mistake (which is very bad).

quick cheap update

Yes, it has indeed been forever since I last posted, and it may be a small forever before I post again. And I've only got a few minutes to post this, but I figured I should put something up anyway.

1) Hopefully I will be able to get my computer in the next couple weeks. I'm looking at either the Asus W3j (link is to the W3v which is the same except the W3j has core duo and the X1600 video card) or the Sony SZ standard series. I'm currently obsessing over it, because I prefer Asus as a company and have grown to really hate Sony, but the SZ fits my needs better than the W3 does. So I have no idea what to do, but my insurance check has been delayed almost 3 weeks now from the time I was supposed to get it, so its all academic until I can get the check and deposit it.

2) Going to Sid's place this weekend to do some more recording. Work is progressing pretty well, though not as fast as I'd like. I still think its possible that I could get an album's worth of material done by summer.

3) Playing with John and Ruggles (awesome guys I met through Sid) and friends in a bizaare improv rock / funk / trip-hop live band. I'm doing mostly synth sounds / keys with John playing Bass, Ruggles on drums, and Nesta on turntables as the original lineup, though we've added Kurt on crazy space guitar and its really going well. When I got into this thing I was thinking it would suffer from "Jam Band Syndrome" in which the musicians have a lot of fun while the audience looks on confused or bored. But its really coming together enough, I think we could play an 80% improvised live set along with local rock bands playing set lists and rock their socks off.

4) Spring Break coming up but don't expect to see me much, as I'll be in Marine Fire Fighting School in Toledo for most of it, and then heading to the UP for the Troupe reonion the weekend after.

5) School is fine, but I'm ready to be done sitting in classes and start sailing. May 12th and I'll be off on my schoolship cruise, which will take me to Marquette, Houghton, Duluth, Port Huron and possibly Detroit. Then I'll be assigned to my sea project ship and who knows where I'll be. I'll probably get off the ship around August 21st (as that's the day my insurance runs out and I won't be able to afford to pay for next years until my loan check comes back) so I could possibly hang out a bit at that time.

6) An essay I wrote got accepted by the NMC magazine for publication (cash prizes!). I'll probably post it up somewhere on my site along with lots of other stuff once I have a computer to do it with.

7) If I haven't mentioned it before, check out Global Pop Conspiracy. Its a great Schminternet radio station with wide variety and lots of really crazy stuff. Also, the RU Sirius Podcast, which is a sort of counter-culture radio show out of San Francisco.

8) Bought a bike for $80 at Meijer so I can ride to school and the bar, which is nice. Its a red single speed cruiser which means less stuff to break.

9) Working on a special project in Diesel class to fix the purifiers on the ship, so that should be challenging and fun.

10) There is no number 10.
