Music Update

Things are a bit stalled with the wemew album (which seems to be the normal speed for that project) while Sid and I coordinate schedules to finish up the recording. I'm still hoping to have recording done by X-day and maybe having the album fully mixed and mastered by then as well. Probably actual pressing won't happen until January when I get back from sailing.

Speaking of which, I'll probably be out sailing to make money through most of my X-day vacation this year, so I won't likely get to see anybody. Sorry about that. I will be around some at T-day however.

In other music news, the DVD from my live performance supporting Sid's show (A trio of Sid, John and I, playing a composition of Sid's for his art gallery show) has come out. Its a very limited pressing, but you might still be able to find some from Sid (perhaps a normal release not the art edition). Sid is doing quite well with his projects, including a trip to the Brainwaves festival in Boston later this month. Nice work, Sid!

Finally, in my lull from working on wemew stuff I've started working a bit more seriously on my electronic project. I've included a rough version of the first track I've completed in this vein, if you want to check it out. (It needs cleanup and the MP3 conversion did some annoying things, but is at least representative of where I'm going).

Oh, and while I'm at it, my friend Shawn, who some of you know, has started up a record label and production company out in San Francisco based on bringing the minimal "Detroit sound" of techno to the west coast. You can check them (People Muver) out at their website.

North Korea

This North Korea thing is really bothering me. At the very least, you can say that isolation is not an option with a nuclear power. China could implode NK in an instant if it wanted, but it has to make the decision if a failed-collapsed NK is worse than a nuclear Japan. In the meantime, the US is still bogged down in Iraq, the only country of the "Axis of Evil" that was not close to developing nuclear weapons. And now its clear to both Iran and NK that being nuclear is the best way to protect yourself from an American government that is in the mood to fight.

Of course, its not like the Agreed Framework that Clinton put together was vastly successful. And obviously its not easy to negotiate with an insane person (which Kim Jong Il genuinely seems to be, as opposed to Saddam). But it seems like there had to have been a dozen things that could have been done earlier that would have yielded a better result than this.

Update:

And then I read this, and it doesn't make me feel any better.

Ish Annoyance Index

So I haven't updated this worth a damn. There are plenty of excuses but mostly the truth is just that I haven't wanted to mess with it. I'm a bit annoyed at the moment, mildly frenetic, and not very useful. Thinking back, I recall that this is almost exactly my frame of mind when I was in the final year at Tech as well. I'm ready to be done, and its not too far, but its just far enough to be annoying. And the fact that I go from being totally broke (as in >$100 overdrawn) to then having just enough money to pay for this week and last week's bills then back to broke again, when I know that in a couple months it won't be a problem, it just makes me whiny. And since I hate listening to other people being whiny, I really hate listening to myself be whiny and any article I'd be likely to post here would sound a lot like this.

Anyway, I'm trying to get some music going, either on my album with Sid or some of the electronic stuff I've been half-heartedly working on, and when I have news that doesn't involve me whining about my slightly annoying but totally survivable situation, I'll post it up.

In other news, if I haven't talked to you in forever, I've probably lost your phone number, your email and your address, as my palm phone disappeared a while ago. So, if you want to talk to a whiny obsessive, give me a call! (Quite an endorsement there)
