OK, so its been forever, but I haven't actually had a computer for 3 months, as I've been going through the most painful repair experience ever with Best Buy. So I'm sitting in an internet cafe in Honolulu and I'll just take a few minutes to answer the basic "Where the hell are you and what are you doing?" question.
I left Michigan in the beginning of January to look for work because I couldn't stand to wait any longer for the government to come through with their job. I went to Seattle to hang out with Lenny and Michelle and Miranda while looking for work at the Seattle hall. After about a week I got three different offers, one of which seemed much better than the others. This was Norwegian Cruise Lines, on a cruise ship sailing entirely in the Hawaiian islands for 4 months. You'll just have to trust me that this is much worse than it sounds. Definitely the worst working environment of my life, and as a former plastics plant line worker, you gotta believe that's bad. I have since escaped and have spent the last week in Honolulu. The day I got off the boat, Chris and Sandra were here for their anniversary so we got to hang out for a couple days. I've gotten several day or night jobs out of the union hall here which even though I've worked maybe half the hours has me making *more* money than I did at NCL.
Its gone well enough that I'm tempted to stay another two or three weeks, but its an expensive place to live and I need to be making money in the positive direction if I want to have any kind of a summer at all. So I'm heading back to Seattle this week and will ship out of there for a while and then maybe head to San Francisco to see what I can find there.
I'm good. Its a little crazy as a union hall nomad, but there's something satisfying about it, too. I only wish I had my computer so I could be writing a little more consistently.
Anyway, I still plan to be back in the Michigan area sometime in May or June. It will depend largely on what types of jobs I can find, as in, if someone offers me a 3 or 4 month job, I kind of have to take it, and thus wouldn't be back until July. But as a new applicant to the union, the odds of that are small, and its more likely I'll get several 1-4 week relief jobs and be back for the summer.
What else? The album is finished. It arrived in St. Clair the day after I left, so I have seen or heard it (though I heard the material it was created from so there shouldn't be a big difference). Once I'm a little bit settled and have the money in my bank account to use I'll start sending them out. I'm told my computer is ready (for the 4th time, so I'm skeptical) which means I can start getting my website updated with links to online download and purchasing sites as well. I suppose that's it. Anyway, sorry its been so long in updating, but its been a pretty crazy couple of months. Hopefully more soon.
